The Society has organised a guided visit to the Museu da Farmácia in Lisbon on Friday, 24 May at 11.30. The visit is expected to last about one and a quarter hours. There are several restaurants and cafés nearby for lunch.

This much-acclaimed museum is dedicated to 5,00O years of the history of pharmacy and also contains thematic exhibitions. In particular, we shall be visiting one devoted to explorers and adventurers, which includes several exhibits from Britain, including items from Scott's ill-fated voyage to the Antarctic.

The museum is located in the Santa Catarina area of Lisbon. The address is Rua Mal. Saldanha 1, 1249-069 Lisbon.

Parking is difficult so members are advised to arrive by taxi/Uber. Members living along the “Line” are advised to take the train to the Cais de Sodre, walk along Rua de São Paulo, and then take the Elevador da Bica up the hill to the Santa Catarina area.

The cost is 7€ per person, payable on the day. Numbers are limited to 25 participants. Members who wish to participate should book by e-mail to library@bhsportugal.org by Sunday 19 May at the latest.
