Building on previous articles on Gerard de Visme published by the Society this article starts by describing his family and his many brothers. Gerard moved to Lisbon in 1746 and retired to England in 1791. He was an extremely successful businessman who during his time in Portugal had four residences including the Quinta de São Domingos at Benfica and Monserrate in Sintra, which he briefly leased.
