This free, monthly lecture series will strive to introduce the History of Portugal through its relationship - sometimes brittle, more often warm and occasionally transformative - with the United Kingdom over the last 650 years.
The lectures will be given by local historian Eduardo Gomes, whose monthly lectures (in Portuguese) on the History of Portugal - Pilares da História - are attended by a packed house of dedicated locals in Cascais Library.
Eduardo has now offered to provide a similar monthly programme in English. This programme is titled the Cascais Memorial Lectures, as each of the monthly lectures will be sponsored in the memory of someone who would have loved to have been in the audience, but cannot. You can find the list of proposed lectures here.
If you would like to sponsor a lecture in memory of someone, or you have a friend who might be interested, please refer to this page for further information.
