We have an interesting programme of events for members in the coming months.

Weekend Trip to Porto, 21-24 September. We hope to visit the British Factory House, the Museu Soares dos Reis, have a meal at the Oporto Cricket and Lawn Tennis Club and taste port at Taylor’s, as well as take a train and boat trip along the Douro. We will also meet up with the Society’s Porto branch members and guests for a talk and dinner afterwards. (Note: This trip was originally planned for June but had to be unavoidably postponed)

Activities at the planning stage for later in the year include Part 2 of a tour of the forts protecting Lisbon, this time covering the Oeiras coast (hopefully to include a boat trip to Bugio lighthouse and a visit to St Julian’s fort).

Porto

Activities at the planning stage include a talk by the Guardian journalist, Oliver Balch and a joint meeting with the Lisbon branch in September.
