The Quinta de Gramicha lies in low ground about 4km from Elvas and 1km south of the main road to Badajoz. Following the battle of Albuera, the Duke of Wellington took personal control of the renewed siege of Badajoz and established his headquarters in the Quinta. The author describes the siege and, drawing on Wellington's letters, the instructions given by him.
