Excerpt:

Based on a transcript of documents from St George's Church, Lisbon, the article describes the suicide of a man driven to it by being unable to pay his debts. The English were happy for him to be buried there but this was not agreed by the Catholic Church because he was a Catholic. On the other hand, he could not receive burial by the Catholic Church without evidence that he had repented the sin of suicide.
