Don't be confused by the title. Beckford did not compose for Mozart. But "this quite stupendously vain person" as Paolo Lowndes Marques calls him in his review of Tomothy Mowl's book, did indeed claim to have written an aria for Mozart. Beckford was a homosexual, which is why he had to leave England and the subject of his homosexuality is well dealt with in Mowl's book.
