Date and time: Monday, 11th of April, from 09.50 to 16.00.

Programme: our chairman, Edward Godfrey, will lead us a walking tour on the South side of the River Tagus on the morning of the 11th of April. The area to be visited once had strong British shipbuilding connections. Spectacular views of the River Tagus and Lisbon are a feature of the walk. On arrival at Cacilhas by the ferry we shall walk along the sea wall and visit the Naval Museum at Olho de Boi. Next we shall pass by the former premises of the Companhia Portuguesa das Pescas and take the panoramic lift up to the historic centre of Almada. A gentle downhill walk will take us to back to Cacilhas where participants may wish to lunch at one of the many fish restaurants and then visit the museum ship – the Portuguese sailing frigate, D. Fernando II e Gloria.

Meeting point: outside the Relay bookstall at the Cais do Sodre railway station at 09.50 in good time to catch the 10.10 ferry to Cacilhas.

Inbound travel: Members living along “the Line” are recommended to catch the 09.16 train from Cascais which arrives at Caís do Sodre at 09.49.

Cost: €8.00 – payable on the day (€10 for non-Members), which includes return ferry fares Lisbon-Cacilhas-Lisbon and entrance to the Naval Museum. Lunch and the visit to the museum ship are entirely optional.

Thie event is limited to 15 participants
