Two English bakeries were established by Mary Ann Broomfield. They purchased ceramic biscuit jars from the Fábrica de Loiça de Sacavém. At one of the cafes, the author, poet, literary critic, publsiher, translator and philosopher, Fernando Pessoa (illustrated), used to meet with his beloved Ophelia.
