Excerpt:

Perkin Warbeck was the most famous Pretender to the English throne. His paths crossed with those of Edward Brampton, now lost to history but someone who had an extraordinary career. Brampton was born in Lisbon but made his fortune first in England and then in the Low Countries. The two met in Lisbon when Warbeck was 14 and Brampton close to 40. Together they journeyed to Lisbon, with Warbeck then becoming a model for the elegant clothes produced by a local clothing and silk dealer, Pregent Meno. It was when Warbeck eventually appeared in Cork dressed in the fine clothes provided by Meno that gossip spread that he was the illegitimate son of Richard III, a rumour he did nothing to disabuse.
