Annual General Meeting for 2021 and talk

16 July 2022, Lisbon Sports Club (12.00)

The Society’s Annual General Meeting will be held on Saturday 16 July from 12.00 at the Lisbon Sports Club, Casal da Carregueira, 2605-213 Belas, (https://www.lisbonclub.com/en/home-en/).

The programme will be as follows:

11.15. Bus departs from behind the Estoril Casino (parking at the paid car park)

12.00. Reception (soft drinks and water will be served)

12.30. Annual General Meeting, chaired by Dr. Filipe Lowndes Marques

• Presentation of Chairman’s Report and Accounts for 2021 by Edward J. Godfrey, BHSP Chairman
• Discussion and approval of the report

13.00. Lunch (see below for menu)

14.00. Talk. Coffee and a talk by Lisbon Sports Club Board Member on the History of the Lisbon Sports Club

Participants will receive their copy of the Annual Report for 2021 on the day.

Lisbon Sports Club dates back to 1880, when a group of English residents living in the Lisbon area founded a Sports Club. By 1890 they had built a small six-hole golf course in Alges. In 1922 the Club moved to Alto da Ajuda to a nine-hole course. Then, in 1962, the Club moved again, this time to Casal de Carregueira, where it remains, situated between the village of Belas and Vale de Lobos, about 20 km from Cascais and Lisbon. The course was inaugurated with nine holes, five more holes were added a few years later and then finally in 1992 its eighteen holes were completed. The comfortable Club House with its veranda overlooking the fine woodland was originally the old Manor House of Casal da Carregueira.
